Some of the common characterizing factors of the small communities of Coahuila are: the mildness and calmness of their areas, the total absence of crime and the manifesting hospitality of its inhabitants.

Abasolo is not left behind. Besides cultivating wheat, sorghum, corn and alfalfa and raising a little livestock, its inhabitants portray the folklore of their traditions with a festival in honor of San Vicente Ferrer (in April) and the Birdseed Fair (end of June, beginning of July), complete with horse races and cock fighting.

If its food you are after, try the cortadillo (chopped seasoned beef), chorreado bread (marble bread), nut rolls, caramel cones delicious sweets, and squash empanadas (turnovers).

The Primero de Mayo thermal springs are very famous.

Evidently, some things that are rare and appreciated in large cities are common in places like Abasolo. Here, everyone knows everyone else and that is the way they like it.
